Meghan Quinn is one of my all time favorite authors. It is an absolute joy to read her books and she never ever disappoints. Her books are an amazing mix of laughter, romance, spice an emotional roller coaster.

‘He’s not my Type’ is a Hockey romance and the 4th book in ‘Agitator’ series. I thoroughly enjoyed all the books in the series but this one is my favorite as i waited for these characters to unfold since the first book in the series.

Characters

After the death of his brother, Halsley Holmes (professional hockey player in Agitators) isolated himself from the outside world mourning his loss and detached himself from all human emotions. He found an escape in books and was always found reading if not playing hockey. He stopped having fun, spending time with his friends, avoided his family as well and considered himself not worthy of love and affection. He was living a pretty mundane life until one day he met HER a year ago. He didn’t know he could feel the things he felt when he saw her. Unfortunately, he could not do anything about it as she was not single. But now she is available and is looking for a place to stay, a perfect opportunity for him to get his girl.

BLAKLEY WHITE works in the VIP relations and marketing department for Agitators recently broke off the 4 year relationship with her boyfriend as he was moving to another country and she did not want to uproot her existing life and go with him. Surprisingly, it did not feel as bad as she thought breaking up. She thought she loved him (may be not). She decides to refrain from getting into any kind of relationship and only focus on herself and her career. Little did she know, she is going to fall in love with her new roommate.

The book beautifully shows the development of both the characters. Halsley being a pro athlete, top of his game and insanely attractive but is still nervous when it comes to Blakely. He does not know how to approach her without making it awkward or scaring her away. Blakely thinks he is not her type as he is too serious, quiet and reserved. The locker room banter is so funny. The conversations between Halsley and his friends would leave you rolling on the floor laughing. Slowly and steadily he breaks into her heart. She sees the things he does for her that her ex never did, never did she feel the same things with him. It was all too new for her. Once she sees his possessive and affectionate side when he pretends to be her boyfriend at a friends wedding in front of his ex, she realizes that she wants him as much he wants her. He opens up to her regarding mending things with his family and his feelings regarding loss of his brother. When the encounter with his mom goes horribly wrong and he spirals back to a dark place, she reminds him no matter what she will choose him. She helps him fight his inner demons and move on from that grief. She makes him understand that he deserves unconditional love and happiness and keeps on showing him that.

I would have liked if the meeting with his brother in the end was elaborated a bit. Apart from that, the book is funny, spicy and whole lot of emotional. Would definitely recommend.
